When you have submitted an application for family immigration, you may be summoned for an interview. You normally have to wait in your home country until UDI has finished processing your application.

If you came to Norway as an asylum seeker or resettlement refugee and have been granted protection (asylum), you can be issued a refugee travel document. A refugee's spouse, cohabitant and children can also be granted a refugee travel document.

Some people do not need a visa to visit Norway because they hold a passport from a country that Norway has a visa exemption agreement with. This also applies if you have a residence permit in an EU/EEA country or if you have a special passport.
